Detecting Grub status

Hello, all. I wonder, is there any way of determining GRUB's status from Linux?

What exactly do you want to determine?

Once grub passes control to the kernel it's done so there is no status. So as already asked what are you are you trying to determine?

Sorry. I want to know whether Grub is in working order, since whenever I start my laptop a screen comes up headed "Windows Boot Manager", and I can't get into Mint. (I started a different thread for that problem.)

Looks like we will need a summary of what you have recently done to the computer. Do you see the grub boot menu? Did you ever repair windows. Does it boot?

Seeing windows boot manager screen means that you probably have messed with the windows boot loader configuration. What options are displayed if any? If grub is still installed it would have passed control to windows.

Running bootinfoscript from a live CD if possible might help.
