Desktop shift between XP and Linux

I've got two HDDs installed, one with WinXP Pro and the other with Linux Mint 8 Main which is Ubuntu 9.10. When I boot up between the two there's a desktop position shift and I have to constantly adjust my monitor for each one even though both are adjusted for 1024X768. Is there a way around this? Thanks.

Does your monitor have an 'auto-adjust' option in the OSD ?

Check that video modes have the same refresh rate.
If they are, then try to get a mode line from windows and then apply it in linux (look here: http://www.x.org/wiki/FAQVideoModes#...gramPowerStrip)
