Desktop links to program .. needs konsole!!

Hi folks.

I have just installed a progam on Suse 9.3 pro but to access it, I need to use a konsole.

Is there any way I can create a button on the desktop that will auto open a konsole, initiate a program and minimise the konsole until the program ends, and as it leaves, close the konsole window?

If there is, take into account that I am thick and tell me how it is done coz I got no idea!!

Looking forward to any reply even if it is to confirm that I'm as thick as two short planks!

Sincerely

Chris Critchlow

I am a Taurus so let me tell you no lies. heh heh

Keep it simple

in KDE window manager right hand click empty space on desktop
create a new file
link to the application
in the application TAB type the file you want to run.....there is an option to run it in a terminal.

2) You could create a script to do it......to run it behind your current program.....but why bother? you just click on the program you want on top and get on with.

Ok mate, tried that and doesn't work.

I'm trying to run PostArmor.sh

Could this be a clue to why?

Looking forward to any reply folks.

Is it possible that the script needs to be run in a special directory? If so, just set the working directory in the link options to the folder that contains the script.

you can navigate to the correct executable file......ie you are setting the correct pathway such as

/opt/downloads/mytest/PostArmour.sh

see if that helps......here is a example I navigate to /usr/X11R6/bin and click on rxvt.sh and KDE puts in the quotes in my path
'/usr/X11R6/bin/rxvt.sh'
