Dependency issue with instaled deps
I'm trying to install gwget. I get the following error when running
Code:
$ ./configure Code:
$ slocate libgnomeui Code:
/usr/lib/libgnomeui.so.32 How do I "add the directory containing `libgnomeui-2.0.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable"? |
should be the default but to check it:
echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH will give you the directories pkg_config_path is currently searching. to export a new directory to search (in this example i will use /usr/local/lib but it could be anything) export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH will do. |
Code:
linmix@localhost ~]$ echo $PKG_CONFIG_PATH once I do "export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH " will that be permanate or do I need to ad it each time I run into a similar problem? |
no its not set.
when you export it, the path will be set for that session only. Once you log out (or close the xterm/console if thats what you are in) it will go back to unset. to make it permanent, add the export line in /etc/profile (this will be a global setting ie. all users) or to your $HOME/.bashrc file (for one specific user only). by the way, that was a little wrong up above: export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH is the right command (don't forget to add the pkgconfig directory at the end) sorry about that. check /usr/lib/pkgconfig and /usr/local/pkgconfig for the libgnomeui.pc file and add that directory to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH for configure scripts to pick it up |
thnx. I'll look into it
