Dependancy Nightmare

Ok, so I am trying to install synamptic, which in turn wants a certain version of apt, which in turn wants some other libs etc. ALl this started when I wanted to install Quickrip, which wants transcode, which in turn WONT COMPILE without giving me some sort of libtool error where the compiler wants to enter a directory called 'NONE' which of course doesn't exist. ALL I want to do is install transcode and synaptic without any problems. And there's GOT to be an easier way to quickly download all these dependencies...I'm running RedHat 8..

THANKS FRIENDS!!

welcome to the wonderfull world of redhat and .rpm files LOL kidding.
Really though, thats the way the cookie crumbles, and also the reason I stopped using redhat. Not to say Redhat is terrible or anything, just couldn't stand having all those dependancy issues when I wanted to install something.

In a nutshell, you will have to download and install what it asks for.

there is a very easy way around this issue. no more dep nightmares!

see the atrpms page of the guide below, get the kickstart file for red hat 8 and you will be set, the one for rh9 works amazingly also.

to make it super easy, get the top file here:

http://atrpms.physik.fu-berlin.de/dist/rh80/atrpms/

then look at the instructions on how to use it on the guide page
