Deleted qmail queue /var/qmail/queue

I've been having a bit of trouble with my new mail server and had lots of emails sitting in the queue, I was in /var/qmail/queue and there were quite a few directories, 01, 02 03 etc... so I thought I might as well get rid of them thinking email will simply recreate these directories... well I've done that NOW I get this error:
451 qq trouble creating files in queue
when trying to send emails.

I've got no idea how to restore the files, or at least the directory structure, or even if it needs to be, I don't know what to do and can't find any info that is helping a great deal.
If you have any ideas could you please let me know...

Thanks in advance.
