I have experienced that as well..among other problems (like lagggin drop down menus etc etc). so I switched to Konqueror Much better browser and no troubles as yet
I had a similar problem (I actually couldn't type in Firefox text boxes). It turned out I hadn't allow loopback on my firewall. As soon as I addded iptables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT to my firewall, Firefox worked fine.
Eh, I don't think it's a firewall problem, I'm not running IPtables or the like...
Good thought, though.
I'm using opera, and there's no delay whatsoever. I read a few posts in the mozillazine forums about latency in typing, and it seems to be common between thunderbird and firefox.
