Delay in echo when entering text into Firefox 0.8

I like firefox, I like how it runs, I love all its features, and it's a generally fast browser.

However, typing into text boxes is really a drag. (This post is quite aggrevating.)

I'm a rather fast typer, and there's a whole lot of delay between the time I enter words, and the time they "echo" on the screen.

Makes for lots of frustration...

Anyone else experiencing this or have a fix?

Machine is laptop, P3-450 with 192mb ram. Running 2.6.4 and fluxbox, slack 9.1 (really current)

Yeah, I'm giving opera a shot.
I use konqueror a lot, too, but it runs slowly outside of KDE for me.

I really would like to get firefox fixed, though.

I had a similar problem (I actually couldn't type in Firefox text boxes). It turned out I hadn't allow loopback on my firewall. As soon as I addded iptables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT to my firewall, Firefox worked fine.

Eh, I don't think it's a firewall problem, I'm not running IPtables or the like...

Good thought, though.

I'm using opera, and there's no delay whatsoever. I read a few posts in the mozillazine forums about latency in typing, and it seems to be common between thunderbird and firefox.
