defunct processes appearing...and won't die!

I'm curious as to what is spawning the same process for starters....then I'd like to know why I cannot get rid of it...I eventually have to stop X and start it again when I get too many of them. Here is a cut output of 'ps auxw':

axion 15950 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:06 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15951 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:06 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15953 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:06 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15954 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:06 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15957 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:07 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15958 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:07 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15962 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:11 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 15963 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:11 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 16135 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:40 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]
axion 16136 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Z 01:40 0:00 [lspci <defunct>]

I have tried:

kill 15950
kill -9 15950
kill -HUP 15950
killall lspci

All do nothing. Is there a way I can prevent these from showing up in the future? and, is there another way to kill a process and make sure it dies? Thanks a lot.

Mike

No idea how they get there ... what desktop
are you using? Maybe the KDE info thing
starts them up ...

Cheers,
