default mouse pointer error in Eterm with fedora core

Any spawn of (any build of) Eterm on my new FC box turns the mouse pointer into a big ugly black X, similar to the default x-windows pointer. This big ugly unwieldy pointer is then my default mouse pointer until i run another x-windows app like mozilla or xterm or whatever, then it's the standard pointy arrow thingy until my focus is back on an Eterm window.

Im running Linux 2.4.22-1.2188.nptlsmp #1 SMP

Changing the bitmaps in Eterm for the mouse pointer doesnt work - my config gets overwritten by some sort of interaction in x.

I've encountered the problem in both windowmaker and in Gnome, so im inclined to rule out the window manager.

Ive tried spawning an Eterm from my box on a separate FC box running the exact same version of x, and it doesnt have the same problem, so Im ruling out Eterm having a problem with the current build of xfree86.

I have no idea where to keep looking

I had the same problem with eterm and fluxbox, That nasty x, but after installing nvidia drivers, the cross disappeared and now i have the normal arrow and selection text icon.

I know that's not much help, cause i don't know why after installing nvidia drivers the cross disappeared, but is all i can tell you.

Hope it helps

WOOT! it worked! {if you saw my pre-edited post, i had forgotten to tell xfree86 to actually _use_ the driver i installed - heh}

Thank you Hammett! I owe you an ale :-)
