default KDE compression tool has some problems with ntfs

Hi!

I have open suse 11 Kde3.

When I try to zip some larger files on my ntfs partition, like 15Mb, with default KDE compression tool it lasts infitely. But when I try to zip it with some other tool it zips normaly, in few seconds. Also when I copy the mentioned file from ntfs partition to my suse desktop (ext3) and try to zip it with default KDE compression tool it zips nicely.

So does default KDE compression tool have some problems with ntfs or what ?

It might not be related to NTFS at all (unless you don't have ntfs-3g installed). When the KDE compression tool hangs indefinitely, it's usually due to file permissions. The volume is probably mounted as read-only. Open the directory as root and try compressing the file.
