DeCSS
I have found css-auth on the internet which is supposed to enable you to view DVDs using zine, etc. However, I cannot figure out how to set it up. Does anyone know?

Why would you go through the hassle of setting up something that is not well known instead of using a stable product such as Mplayer to view your favorite DVD's. Plus: "I found something somewhere ... how to make it work" w/o even a link to this something is helping neither your nor us to help you.

Sorry! I thought everyone knew css-auth / DeCSS. That is the code that resulted in that young lad in Norway being prosecuted. He was acquitted because the purpose of the DeCSS program was to enable someone to view a DVD they had bought in Linux. I thought it was the only way (at least that is what I read in Linux Format who said that it could enable Xine to play CSS-encoded DVDs).

everyone DOES know. but just like rock stars, having a court case brought against a piece of software does not make it good. DeCSS may be the most infamous, but it's pretty poor and has been superceded so so many times it's not worth even thinking about.

Try libdvdcss and libdvdread and of course MPlayer
