Decent Screen Recorder

Ok, I'm looking for a decent scream recorder for Ubuntu. I've tried GTKRecordMyDesktop, VLC and istanbul. They work, the problem is that they stall my machine so much that it doesn't function enough to actually record anything. I don't believe it's a hardware issue as I have a good graphics card and 12gigs of ram. Anyone have any ideas? Any help is appreciated!

RecordMyDesktop does not affect the performace of my quad core @2.4ghz 4gb ram nor my pentium 4ghz 512mb at work, so there is something else wrong here. You IO (hard drive) driver or something. RecosrdMyDesktop or XvidCap have very little impact on performance. the only downside is that drag and drop does not work very well.

A solution is to use VNC to make your screencast just like "ScreenKast" did, it was very efficient, but is less or more dead my now, it will be hard to have it working.
