Question Debian Woody / XFree86

Hi all,

Apologies first of all for asking such a basic question. I'm having real issues and finding this rather frustrating.

I recently installed Debian Woody and the installation went fine from a single CD binary i386 install.

I configured the system correctly (or so I thought) but everytime the system loads my monitor goes blank and the power switch flashes.

I've come to the obvious conclusion this is related to XFree86. I logged in via the console and ran Xfree86 -configure, in the hope it would solve the porblem, it didn't.

I have a Daewooo 431X Monitor which is being correctly discovered and inputs the synch ranges correctly, same goes for my Voodoo 3. I also tried manually configuring it but to no avail, same issues as before.

I've noticed in the Xfree86 console dump type stuff various messages regarding my mouse and keyboard devices.

I'm currently using both PS2 mouse and keyboard and wondered if this may be causing issues as the system does not seem to like /dev/mouse. I've tried altering this to /dev/psaux manually in vi, but it still doesn't work.

Someone please help before I go bald from pulling my hair out!
