I'm very noob. I installed Debian Woody for the first time today.

How can i update gcc and g++ in Debian Woody?

And how do i define an ip to eth1?

To do upgrades in Debian

Code:

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade OR
apt-get upgrade <pkgname>

The second line would upgrade your whole system, the second upgrades a specific package.

I don't know about configuring eth1, my connection uses DCHP, so I don't to worry about that...

EDIT: To search for packagenames

Code:

apt-cache search <string>

string would be any combination of characters in the packagename.
