I have a Debian Etch install that I would like to get xgl working on. I'm not a big fan of compiz fusion, but there are some little pieces of eye candy that I would like to have. I was using the nv driver for a while, but recently switched to the Nvidia closed source driver for direct rendering. I cannot, for the life of me, find a document online (on this forum even) without broken repositories, and old, non working ways of installing xgl.
Can anyone point me in the right direction. Maybe you have bookmarked something I have missed in my 5 hour power googling.
Hi KTerry,
For starters have you gone to the Nvidia website and downloaded the proprietary driver for your card? If so what happened next. It might help if you tell us how far you got and where you encountered problems.
Cheers,
jdk
"I was using the nv driver for a while, but recently switched to the Nvidia closed source driver for direct rendering." To extend on that; yes I have direct rendering working and the Nvidia driver is working as it is supposed to. I now need a guide on installing xgl on debian for this 'eye candy' I and others speak of. Sorry I didn't include this in my initial post.
