Debian 0.4.1, why does it do this?

If it is of any importance, I am running Debian 0.4.1 for the Xbox.

When it boots up, I can see on the console that it's running gnome. (Says it is starting gnome display manager)

It then loads straight to a terminal in its own window, and I am in some kind of GUI, apparently it Debian.

But gnome isn't included in the list of window managers when I right click on the desktop.

I tried going into another gui, then going into gnome, and it worked. It took me to a login screen and loaded up something I've never seen before (gnome).

Why does my Xbox automatically load to that debian gui?

And how do I change what programs automatically load ? (I want ot get rid of a virtual keyboard)

Thankyou
