Debiak package dpkg

Hi All,

I need some help on this issue.

I have Turbo Linux Workstation on my intel computer. I would like to install some software that are in .deb format (Debian package). I tryed to use dpkg package from debian, but this is also in .deb format. where can I find a software for unpacking the packages and install it.

Thanks.

I'm sorry that I can't help more than this, but I don't use a debian based distro. You almost certainly could unpack the files on the command line with a set of parameters just like other files like rpm's and tarballs. That's what I would suggest looking into to get dpkg installed...

If you have an rpm based distro then using dpkg is insane.

rpm and dpkg use different databases to keep track of what is installed, trying to mix packaging systems will just give you dependancy problems.

Convert the deb to rpm.
