DD Image File Copy To HDD

Hi there, I want to copy a downloaded file to a HDD, the file is a .dd file the disk is currently formatted as fat32. I am a complete Linux Newbie can someone please dive me step by step instructions on how to do this. The disk is set up as a primary slave, I am using RH 9.0 the file in question is called nbox.dd. I have tried using the DD command but it doesn't work, I can't remember the exact error message I am also not sure whether the disk was mounted properly, but once again I don't remember the error messages.

as the drive is FAT32, you can just mount it with:

mount /dev/hdd /path/to/mountpoint

and then use the "cp" command to copy the file

When I try to mount the drive I get permission denied, or if I specify -tfat I get fs fat not supported, when I do modprobe I get command not found.
