DC-GUI active mode

i'm running dc-gui on SuSE 9.1, with a router.
i have set up port forwarding on port 9176, and tested that it works.
the problem is that when i set up dc-gui to use active mode, it tells me to restart the client. after i have done so, the connection setting is back to passive mode.
the config file looks like this, with my ip instead of xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

<connection>
<mode>active</mode>
<tcplistenport>9176</tcplistenport>
<udplistenport>9176</udplistenport>
<externalip>true</externalip>
<ip>xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx</ip>
<listenhost>xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx</listenhost>
<sendmessageonactivemoderequest>false</sendmessageonactivemoderequest>
<checkprivateaddressspace>false</checkprivateaddressspace>
</connection>

any suggestions??

Thanks

Which user are you running as?

Make sure each time you run as the same user.

If you're using DC-Gui from behind a router it is best to use passive modus. Active modus will not work that good from behind a router. You can use this when you're directly connected to the internet or when you only using it on a LAN with a local HUB (lanparty's,...)
But if you want to try it in active modus set it to active, then select "Network Interface" an push the Get Interface button and select the network interface you are using (probably eth0).
That should do the trick.

Let me correct my last post.
I've just tried it in active mode and it should work from behind a router.

I've just been looking around and the configfiles should be in you're /home/user/.dc/ folder. You should check if these files are owned by the user and not by the root.
Check if you have write access to this directory.
Or you can try to change the dclib.cfg manually.
There should be a section that looks something like this

<connection>
<mode>active</mode>
<tcplistenport>9176</tcplistenport>
<udplistenport>9176</udplistenport>
<externalip>false</externalip>
<ip>eth0</ip>
<listenhost/>
<sendmessageonactivemoderequest>false</sendmessageonactivemoderequest>
<checkprivateaddressspace>false</checkprivateaddressspace>
</connection>

assuming you want to use active mode this is how it should look if you're using eth0 as the network card.

oh yeah! it actually doesn't matter if one uses eth0 or external ip...the problem was that 'listenhost' was defined in my config file. so i rempved that...and voila...it works!

thanks...you are a savior!
