Data recovery

Hi all,

I recently smashed my hard disk's partition table, superblocks etc. when I performed a defragment {opps } and then to repair that damage, I used mke2fs rather than tune2fs. {bigger opps}.

Now, I'm sure the data's still there, as e2salvage reports >600 directories on the hard disk, but it seems to seg fault when it tries to write to the device.

Does anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong when I run "e2salvage /dev/hdb", or know about a way of recovering the data?

Thanks all

r2m

you need to hook that drive up to another computer so
you don't have to write to it. al you should be doing is
copying stuff off of it.
