cyrillic in other apps via wine ?

i am studying рускиие (Russian)

as you can see (вижу) i can type in cyrillic, view webpages in Firefox in cyrillic, i can even type in openoffice.org and terminal sessions in cyrillic

i have a wonderful legal purchased copy of Transparent LanguageNow! Russian v9.0 that i got to run under wine.

i got the Quicktime Movies to run (amazingly) i can hear the speaker clearly, but the font is not working..

all the cyrillic in the lessons look like:

разделе

does anyone know how i can set the font to go over into wine? or is there something else i need to do? i have read several posts on LQ.org as well as some other sites.. the program is wonderful, but i can't seem to get the font to work.

i've been working on this for a bit, i just can't seem to find what i'm missing.

thanks in advance for any advice

(slightly OT)

Soylentgreen, how did you get Transparent LanguageNow! Russian running in wine?

I'm quite the novice with wine. I've got a legal, purchased disc of Transparent LanguageNow! Dutch but can't get it to run. From the folder where it's installed, in a terminal window, I type

$ wine ./V8.exe

and get a few popups in succession saying "Unable to load C:\Program Files\TLI\LanguageNow V8/DUE?????.???" Once I've got through those popups, I get a fragmented start-up screen; then, whichever option I choose, I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library popup: "Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\TLI\LanguageNow V8\V8.exe abnormal program termination"

Any suggestions?

i parked the installed copy from my Windoze partition over in my .wine folder under program files.

I also copied a -ton- of *.dll files in /lib/win32

i believe i was running Wine version 0.9.20 on ubuntu 6.06

i just reinstalled last night slackware current, so i'll put the Russian program back on tonight and let you know what happens..

good luck. (i'll try to find what *.dll's i put there)

Ah, this could present a problem. None of our machines has a Windows partition.

Are those .dll's available legally without the purchase of Windows?

Perhaps I'll have to try Crossover Office. I assume it's still available for a free trial?
