Customizing Printer Page Size?

Hi All,
I have installed Epson LQ-2180 on Windows XP and Shared it with Linux AS 4 machine. What I want to achieve is to send print on a page size of Width 9 inches and height 5.5 inches. So let me know in which file I can add these settings. I have tried /etc/a2ps.cfg but no gain.

Thanks in advance.

It would help if you'd tell us what distro you're using.

Your reference to "Linux AS 4" sounds like maybe you are using Red Hat Enterprise & have fallen into the error of thinking (or perhaps speaking as if you think) that Red Hat is the only distro, or that Enterprise is the only thing they have ever made.

You have no idea how annoying it was to have some clueless noob ask a Q about "Linux 8", something that doesn't exist yet, let alone then -- the kernel is still at 2.6. The bad part was that you had grin & find a tactful way to correct the <expletive deleted />.

Here's a worse potential mistake: w/ the advent Red Hat Enterprise, don't say "RH 4" when you mean "RHEL 4", AFAIK there really WAS an "RH 4" & it's so old it's probably not what you would be trying to ask about.

So, please, if you mean "RHEL AS 4", then say so. There's no harm in abbreviating, so long as it's accurate & unambiguous.

I know I'm being picky, but RH's changes over time make it important to be very precise when referring to their products. The original line went through 9, & is commonly referred to as "RH n". They are now split into Red Hat Enterprise Linux, "RHEL n", & Fedora Core, "FC n".

"Linux Red Hat Advanced Server 4" does not properly name any current product, try this Google: http://www.google.com/search?q=site:...ed+Server+4%22

If the terms you're using weren't ambiguous & potentially confusing, I wouldn't say anything; but this is a time it matters.

Are you using CUPS as your printer system? If so do
Code:
lppasswd –g sys –a root (set/overwrite) root's CUPS-password)
In your browser's adress field do
Code:
http://localhost:631
 -> Manage Printers
 -> Modify Printers
change the parameters as needed
HTH. Good luck.

I have already tried http://localhost:631 but here I can't add an additional Page Size of my own length and width here only I can select already defined. My requirement is that I have to define a page size of length 9 inches and width 8.5 inches. Thanks

Well. I'm not at a linux box right now.

Different track: If you use KDE, start KPrinter and try it there. (Gnome should have an equivalent, but I'm not familiar with it).
