Custom slackware bootdisk... problem with rootdisk

I'm making a slackware 9 bootdisk to work with the perc card in a dell poweredge 2650 (aacraid - the ones i found on the net did not work). After recompiling a kernel and tweaking around to fit in on a floppy. I used rawrite to with bare.i to format a floppy and swapped vmlinuz with the new bzImage i just recompiled. The kernel on the floppy worked and detected the massive raid array in this machine. My next road block is when it gets to the rootdisk, i get unable to mount root fs on 02:00. I've tried multiple different floppies so its not a floppy problem. Is there something I"m leaving out that i need when i recompile the kernel.

Thanks in advance.
