custom HTML background for KDE using Nvu -- EDIT: custom background: any method

Here's what I'm wanting to do and hoping you guys can help me do so.

--Create a custom background using Nvu to edit.
Here's what I need for starting out...

1) Ability to open programs through this HTML, not asking "open or save"
2) Have auto-refreshed RSS feed/feeds (would prefer to have this, but not needed)
3) Embedded Bash prompt with the single purpose of displaying the Bash read-out (like before X starts), but not to be typed into.
4) Possibly embed "bash-2.05b# top"?

This is not needed, but it sure would be fun to work on, see what all I can do with the HTML embedding, and I could also say to my friends "see what you can do with Linux? Get off Windows!" Yes, I know it could actually be done on Windows too, but most of my friends just don't know any better.

It's all just a thought and would like to try it out to see how well I can do at it. Any ideas on how to get started folks?

Perhaps this is asking too much of Nvu? If it is, any other method of getting these as an active background would be suffice. I'm mainly wanting the bash-2.05b# top and tail -f *system log* readouts to be embedded. The RSS doesn't really have to be there, it was just an idea. (would still like to know how to use it in a web page though)

Basically, I'm mostly just wanting for there to be prompts to show system readouts and for them to be embedded.

If it helps any, I'm using Slackware 10 with KDE 3.2.3

Any suggestions on how to do any of these would be appreciated.
