Curiosity
I have looked at a lot of different Linux Distributions and all of them use colors when you look at the files and folders. What does the different colors mean (red, green, blue and etc . . .)?

Just color coding. You can see the Rosetta Stone for your system by
Code:
dircolors -p http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...93#post2589893 |
Maybe this will help a bit, it is a copy of a file named DIR_COLORS (from RHEL5);
Code:
# Configuration file for the color ls utility |
