I have a problem with CUPS around creating a printer. I had tried to update to CUPS 1.6.1 from my distros 1.4.8. When that failed I tried to reinstall CUPS via the distro packages.
CUPS functions but the cupsd fails with a status code of 127 any time I try to create a printer. CUPS access.log and errors.log with log set to debug2 all show the printer was successfully created but in reality the server crashes and no printer.
The message log at the same time shows:
Nov 2 20:39:32 localhost smbd: Could not find child 12783 -- ignoring
Nov 2 20:39:59 localhost systemd: cups.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=127
Nov 2 20:39:59 localhost systemd: Unit cups.service entered failed state.
Nov 2 20:40:32 localhost smbd: [2012/11/02 20:40:32.465222, 0] printing/print_cups.c:109(cups_connect)
Nov 2 20:40:32 localhost smbd: Unable to connect to CUPS server /var/run/cups/cups.sock:631 - Connection refused
I can also get a cupsd crash with exit status 2 if there is a printers.conf file in /etc/cups/ and I cannot restart cupsd until I delete the printers.conf file.
Any thoughts??? Would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.
