CUPS wont print test page

Im not sure what info will be needed to fix this issue. I am running Suse 10.1 and I have a Brother MFC210C printer. I went to Brothers web site and went through all the install issues. The printer is set and ready to go but for some reason I am unable to print a test page from http://localhost:631/ Any help would be great.

Im not real sure where this install printer is located. Iv looked through the menu's and I didnt see that. Unless you are referring to the yast control center-->hardware-->printer in which case I clicked on that and it starts a screen where it acts like its going through a check list and then automatically closes. It opens and closes so fast I cant even tell you what its actually checking or doing.

I think I found what you were talking about. Menu-->utilities-->printer Anyway, that produced a whole nother set of issues. I open that window and it freezes up and go's into a non responsive state. Happens as root also.

The brother MFC210C is a printer/copy/fax (multi function center) machine. Are you using it via network or USB?

Sad the printer configuration utility dosn't work for you ... how have you set up the printer? Was it detected? Did you find a driver for it?

Have you looked it up in the HCL?

Did you try the Brother Linux Solutions?

Remember. Some printer manufacturers quite probably won't provide drivers for Linux with their printers. You may have to buy (yes, buy) drivers either from them or from a 3rd party company.

It's a bit like this with the Canon Pixma.
