CUPS to rename output files

Hi All,

I have a question on cups, i have configure a printer to print the output to a text file, for example the device url is file:/tmp/output.txt, and the driver is generic text (en). As there is a script to ftp to my server to get this text file, so my question is, can is there a way to add a variable to the file name, for example file:/tmp/output.txt-${Date}.

The main purpose is to let print job print to to different file (file name).

Thanks in advance.

Thanks
doland

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Basically I'd go and create a new object for this; to get
a basic idea on how to go about this have a look at:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...e_in_Slackware

In the scripts that comprise this there's plenty of
options to manipulate the name or target directory.

Cheers,
Tink

Hi Tinkster,

Thanks for your reply. But for my case is different, i need to create a text file, pdf cannot work as there is a script to read and filter this text file.

Anyway i have find the solution. Just edit files will do.

Thanks & Best Regards
