I was using SuSE 10.2 and used both YaST and http://localhost:631 to configure CUPS. CUPS seemed to automatically recoginize my printer as a HP OfficeJet G85 but the test pages would never print.

Now I have abandoned SuSE and have installed Fedora Core 6 and I have the same problem (except I don't have the HTTPD installed yet).

The printer works fine when booted from windows XP server 2003.

Can somone suggest what I need to do?

Apparently I have hpijs and hplip already installed:

rpm -qa *hp*
hplip-1.6.7-4
rhpl-0.194-1
libsane-hpaio-1.6.7-4

Woops, that is not true:

I forgot to change the message before hitting the submit post button!

I had started httpd and was able to try to start the printer and attempt to print a test page from //localhost:631 with both SuSE 10.2 and FC 6.

The computer indicated everything was fine and the test page printed but the printer just sat silent and printed nothing!

This printer works fine from windows, however.
