CUPS setup

Hello!
I have recently installed CUPS in my Arch Linux box just to play with it (I don't posses a printer). :P
I am trying to use the web interface to configure cups. At times , it asks for username and password. It is suggested in the docs that I give either root and root pasword OR current username and password. However, in my system there is no root password set, because I always login as normal user and use Sudo to get root privileges when required. In CUPS web interface, supplying the current use name and the password set for it doesn't help. Inputing just 'root' as username and empty password is not accepted either. :(
My question is : Is setting up a root password the only way to gain entry (I don't want this!)
Or, can I somehow set my current user to give his username and password and be able to configure? (By adding to some permission group maybe?)

Thanks in advance!

1st: which version have you installed? base or full?i believe that you have to have "root" user and password right? how else do you do your updates? (if you really don have press to console "passwd root" and give a password)
2nd: the way i install my printer is by administrator mode, not by simple user, so you will need to press administrator mode first and then "Add printer".
3rd: i went from K Menu -> Settings -> Printers.. ( it was easy enough) if you need anything else just say it.
hope i help

I login as normal user and prepend commands that require root privilege with sudo. e.g : sudo pacman -Syu

I know that, but I don't wish to have a pssword for user root.

I am using Fluxbox and not KDE (or Gnome). So, I don't have a inbuilt printer management GUI. :(
Thank you for your attempts to help me, but what I really need is a way for using the CUPS web interface without needing a root password!
