CUPS setup
Hello!
I have recently installed CUPS in my Arch Linux box just to play with it (I don't posses a printer). :P I am trying to use the web interface to configure cups. At times , it asks for username and password. It is suggested in the docs that I give either root and root pasword OR current username and password. However, in my system there is no root password set, because I always login as normal user and use Sudo to get root privileges when required. In CUPS web interface, supplying the current use name and the password set for it doesn't help. Inputing just 'root' as username and empty password is not accepted either. :( My question is : Is setting up a root password the only way to gain entry (I don't want this!) Or, can I somehow set my current user to give his username and password and be able to configure? (By adding to some permission group maybe?) Thanks in advance! |

2nd: the way i install my printer is by administrator mode, not by simple user, so you will need to press administrator mode first and then "Add printer". 3rd: i went from K Menu -> Settings -> Printers.. ( it was easy enough) if you need anything else just say it. hope i help |

Thank you for your attempts to help me, but what I really need is a way for using the CUPS web interface without needing a root password! |
