exactly thus it continues!

root@intranet /var/log/samba# tail log.smbd
Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused

I understand that English is not your native language, but
I can't comprehend what you are trying to say. Can you
please try to rephrase this?

Cheers,
Tink

Clarification

I have the same problem, so allow me to clarify.

I have samba running, but I do not have, nor do I want, cups running. Samba, however, keeps attempting to communicate with cups. /var/log/syslog contains entries like the following:

smbd[3640]: [2006/08/11 14:34:17, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_cache_reload(85)
smbd[3640]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused

This doesn't seem to be affecting the functionality of my system at all, but it'd be nice to get rid of these messages. They're cluttering up my syslog!

I've tried adding the line:

load printers = no

to my smb.conf file. The printers share is completely commented out, and each share contains the line:

printable = no

Could someone suggest some other things to try?

Thanks,
--Chad

I'm watching this thread too.

At some point I tried all kinds of settings, but couldn't get rid of the useless messages.

Any hints, how to make samba not care about printers?

In my smb.conf created by swat, in the [global] settings I notice these lines
Code:
syslog = 0
log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
max log size = 1000
Would that help? I get no samba messages in my syslog.
