cross platform folder synchronization with hamachi

So here's a question:
I have ubuntu 6.06 on my laptop at home and XP on my desk at work. I've been using hamachi VPN to access my work folders from home. This is all well and good, except that when I do work at home, I have to remember to copy the relevant files back to my work comp, and vice versa, which is time consuming and I'm prone to forget. It seems like the solution here is some sort of folder synchronization.

I'd really like avoid trying to set-up an ssh server on my comp at work, because it seems, well, complicated. The work comp seems like a natural pick for the server-side of whatever solution I come to, since I don't like to leave my laptop on 24/7.

Is there a way to use rsync, unison, or some other app to synchronize folders using hamachi's VPN and not ssh? Is there some other real simple workaround that I'm not thinking of?

Thanks much.
