Crontab email reports - changing the FROM field

Hi all,

After cron tasks are done, a report gets sent to the owner of the crontab, or to the address specified in the MAILTO field. My problem is that the machine that is trying to send the email (to an external address) does not have public ip/dns, and the messages get bounced from the external SMTP server.
One way around this is to change the FROM field into a domain that the server can resolve.
This leads to my question. How can I make such change using cron?
