Hmm,

That's an interesting point. When I type crontab -e, all I get is a blank shell with nothing in it. Also, these are the only files listed in that directory. .

[root@ASUSA7V266-E cron]# crontab -e

--------------------------------

And this:

[root@ASUSA7V266-E cron]# pwd
/var/spool/cron
[root@ASUSA7V266-E cron]# ls
tmp.4260 tmp.5210
[root@ASUSA7V266-E cron]#

ls
tmp.4260 tmp.5210

Are you saying I should copy all of that text into a new file (crontab -e)?

Hmm, well,

5 PM came and went and it did not run. I'm frustrated very much right now. I read the man pages on CRON and it said that something listed in /etc/crontab would run. Darn it.

Scott ...

Do
Code:
crontab -e
i
copy & paste the line

0 17 * * mon-fri /software/norton.sh

into it using the mouse (highlight the
line in the browser using the mouse,
then middle-click into the crontab... then do
Code:
<ESC>
:wq
Read
man vi
to understand how crontab operates
as an editor.

Cheers,
Tink
