Creating Ora10g database on FC2 gives unable to create shared memory segment....

ok I'm using FC2 and 3.4GHz/2GB dell laptop. I've got Oracle client installed fine, and can access Oracle on other machines ok.

Now I am trying to install a local database, and the ora universal installed works fine unil I hit the last button (Create, I think), when it stops at with an error message: "Unable to create shared memory segment" ora-27125. I'm not too familiar with linux, could someone give me the big picture here what that really means and possible causes. I've googled this and found a couple of similar threads, and tried many of the suggestions mentioned (not all of them).

The exact same thing happens on another completely different laptop but with the same distro of FC2, so its not machine-specific.

Thanks for any help,
