Creating an RPM package?

So I understand I need to update my mail forwarding server with the latest sendmail patch/package.

Because I want to be able to fall back to my current version of sendmail in case I b0rk something during the update I want to package up my current version of sendmail. How do I do this?

I am using RedHat 7.2 btw...

thanks in advance...

Wouldn't there already BE an rpm for the version of sendmail you're using now?

Its probably easier to backup your mail and your config files (I don't use sendmail, so I have no clue what they are) and then upgrade...

To find your current rpms do:

rpm -qa | grep sendmail

Backup your mail and all your conf files and then update the new sendmail packages by doing:

rpm -Uvh sendmail*
