Creating an LVM Volume Group with a mounted ext3 partition

Hello,
I've installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a normal ext3 partiton. I know that it is possible to create an LVM Volume Group on an unmounted partition. Is it possible to create an LVM set on a ext3 mounted partition?
How?

Thanks,
alexpacio

not without nuking it first, no. you'd need to migrate data off, convert it to an LVM partition, create a PV and then a LV inside it and format that as ext3.
