Creating a boot disk...........

Hello,
In the past I've loaded Mandrake 9.2 onto my PC and I have tried to have Linux boot from a floppy disk so that I would not have to be botherd with using the LILO screen and having to choose between Windows and Linux. But each time that I've tried it didn't work. I'm not certain that I understand this altogether, here's how I understand it. If you boot from the floppy drive the LILO screen will not appear, therefor I would not have to choose between Linux and Windows, Linux would load automatically from the floppy disk. Is this correct? If not please correct me. scratch:
Thank You, Ryan Lee:

You could put lilo on the floppy... or not. It's your choice.
Here's a howto :

You don't have to care about the root disk as you have a working linux partition (just change the "root=" to your linux partition).

Lilo can be configured in a lot of different ways. When you install Mandrake it offers you at least 2 ways to configure lilo and you can choose both ways if you want. One configuration is to install lilo to a floppy disk. The lilo installed on the floppy is configured to boot into Mandrake without offering you a choice. A second configuration is to install lilo to your hard drive Master Boot Record. The lilo installed to the MBR is configured to offer you a menu of every installed operating system that Mandrake detected during the install.

You do not have to stick with the possible configurations that the Mandrake installer offers you. You can boot into Mandrake and set up your own boot configuration by editing /etc/lilo.conf. Then install lilo to the MBR by running the lilo command.
