Acrobar 6 lets you convert pdf files from webpages from IE. is there a similar program that will work from any Linux supported web browser?

Certainly. I just tried using:

Mandrake 9.1
Mozilla
Openoffice 1.1

I copied this page to the clipboard with <CTRL><A>
Opened Openoffice...New....Text document
Pasted with middle button
File...Export as PDF. Saved the file.
Opened the pdf file with konqueror: It looks nice!

Hope this helps.

Or the easy way :) :

Using Konquerer, open the HTML file, then:
1. Location-->Print
2. Change printer to: Print to File (PDF)
3. Change Output file to the PDF file you want to save
4. Press print

There you go, 4 easy steps to making PDF files from HTML
