cracking and staticy sound with 2.6 kernel using alsa
 

I am having a bit of an annoying problem. I have the 2.6 kernel running fine on a my box and alsa seems to be configured right. I get sound and everything but when I use XMMS with oss or alsa plugins I get cracking or popping. If I use juk which uses artsd I get lots of static and sometimes only static and no sound. I have attached my lsmod of all the sound stuff I have loaded. Maybe if I compiled it into the kernel I would get better sound?

This isn't a solution but I'm having the same problem with my sound. I run SuSE 9.1 with a Sound Blaster 16 card. It pops or hisses everytime the hard drive access light goes on, and I've tried changing many settings, don't know what to do next.

i'm having the same problem in fedora core.
