cpudyn and cpufreq not working on Debian stable

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
I need cpudyn to work on Debian stable. it won't start CPU control

here is the output:
Linux kernel doesn't support cpufreq
We'll try acpi throttling support...
Kernel doesn't support ACPI throttling
cpudynd: CPU frequency control disabled

I'm using kernel 2.6.26-2-686.

'/proc/cpufreq' does not exist here
'/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor' also isn't here

on the other hand, '/proc/acpi/processor/CPU1/throttling' *does* exist (its not CPU or CPU0, but CPU1)

using hw:
description: CPU
product: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 420 @ 1.60GHz
vendor: Intel Corp.
physical id: 4

Hi
You should get '/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor' as soon as power management is configured in the kernel and the CPU is supported. That means something with the kernel is not ok, or your CPU is not supported.
E.g. with a VIA C7/Eden CPU I had to install a kernel patch and recompile the kernel and boot the new one in order to make it work.
