CPU running too low!

On my laptop with Suse 9.1 pro and ACPI the cpu is running at 599 mhz at ALL times, even with the power connected.. its a 1500 mhz Pentium M Processor.. can anyone help me with this issue?

Did you check your BIOS? This happened to me once. The settings for my RAM dropped to a lower level and my Athalon 1800 was running at about 1200.

Think of CPU power as horsepower though. Its not always going to run at its max speed, if it did then it would probably blow up in short time. Your car might say it has 300 horsepower but that's only when the RPMS is running at 5000 RPMS or so in which your not always running your car constantly at 5k RPMS, errr.. I hope not ;)

Where are you seeing that your CPU is lower though, tells us exactly what the problem might be. If its your system stating its that speed of a processor, take the advice above. If you have some tool that is showing you real time cpu speed, read the first part of my post here.

I type "cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep MHz" to check it.
When i ran windows it showed 1500 mhz at all times...

Bios is set to run at max..

A centrino will scale to lower MHz to reduce battery consumption.
If you use KDE System Guard, and have a MHZ Sensor for the CPU,
and run something which is CPU intensive... should show 1500 MHz.
