Couple of issues with latest unstable X.org in Debian

Hello,

I just did an "apt-get dist-upgrade". It seems that there is a package called 'xserver-xorg-video-nv'. I have to have this one installed in order to be able to run my X server.

I now have two issues, one with glx and one with the background in X.

Background:
Weather I use fluxbox or pekwm as for my desktop environment, the background is always black. It doesn't matter wich theme I use. Also when X starts with the window manager 'wdm' the background is black.

Glx:
Also when I check my "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" file it keeps saying the following about the glx drivers:

(II) LoadModule: "glx"
(II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) Module glx: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
(II) UnloadModule: "glx"
(II) Unloading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(EE) Failed to load module "glx" (a required submodule could not be loaded, 0)
(II) LoadModule: "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so" (glx)
(WW) LoadModule: given non-canonical module name "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so
(II) Module glx: vendor="NVIDIA Corporation"

I have also installed latest NVIDIA drivers.

I have searched allover for a solution, but don't seem to find any. Does anyone have a clue on this two matters? Help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I've just been through the glx problem myself! There were a lot of updates to the X system (about 60 I think!). The problem went away when I installed _all_ of them and also there was a new package which probably was the one whuch fixed it. I think it was a libglu something package.

I went through the "new in repository" section in Synaptic and installed what seemed to be relevant. You may need to recompile the nvidia driver after adding the packages.

No problem with backgrounds in KDE.

Hope this helps.

edit:
it seems that all the available xserver-xorg-video packages are already install. I seem to have the libglu packages already installed as well.

thanks for the tip.

Have you tried reinstalling the nvidia driver? A new one was released only a few days ago. (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756-pkg1.run)

Yes, also did that. It didn't help though (unfortunately).
