Corrupt partition table
 

I have installed and used Red Hat 7.1 before, but I need to install it once again. I am using System Commander 7 to manage the operating systems on my machine. I was running Windows 2K and Windows 98, but I have taken 2K off of the machine until I can solve this problem. The machine I am using has a motherboard with on-board RAID. I have 2 40gb hard drives Raid 0. System Commander set up my partitions as Linux ext2 native (about 1 1/2 gig) and linux swap (about 3/4 gig). Both partitions are at the beginning of the drive array. During the install I choose custom install and I get the following mesage: "The partition table on device hde is corrupted. To create new partitions it must be initialized, causing th loss of all data on this drive." Of course I had to try initializing, and ended up wiping out the other OSes (good thing for backup!). I had the option of skipping the drive which gives me the screen to choose how to partition. I get the same error message again after choosing Disk Druid. Skip drive option again. Now I am in disk druid and none of my partitions show up. I know the partitions exist since I have checked them in partition magic and system commander. What is the problem?

Maybe you can try some other software.

format your harddisk and then try installing it.

I actually tried wiping the disk entirely clean, and wiping the mbr so that RedHat would be the only OS on the drives but I still get the same problem. Seems that it is a hardware problem. I have heard that RedHat will not work with RAID. Does anyone know anything about this?
