Hi I was thinking of the alternative for Corel Draw software on Linux platform.
At work I do most of my work on Corel Draw so I thought I can use to open Corel file on Gimp at home. But unfortunately I can't.
This the a solution for me?
if you dig back a few years, you might be able to find corel draw itself.......as a linux release.haven't seen a copy of it myself in about 3 years, and i think they stopped producing it.

There are a few apps that do what Corel Draw does in the M$ world and some of those Open Source apps are listed at these links >
But if you save the files from Corel Draw as EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) then you can open it with pretty much lots of applications. There are plugins for various applications.
1. Once the illustration is finalised, print your image out as a final size and quality check.
2. From the "File" menu, click on "Export...", and choose one of the following:
1. To save in EPS format - This is the preferred option, as the vector-based EPS format has the highest image quality. Click here for details.
2. To save in TIF format - If the EPS option above proves unsatisfactory, save as a TIF bitmap. Click here for details.
Most vector programs will allow you to save in .eps. Well, most vector programs that run under windows. still won't fully switch to linux b/c graphics proggies in it SUCK! i too would like CorelDRAW for linux, but alas...
