Core 6 laptop - vidoe - firefox - etc

Hey guys I just installed core 6 on my laptop and I am struggling through all of the misc configs that go along with linux. I would really like to watch all video formats. My bsd laptop just installed and figured everyhting out but linux is being a bit more stuborn. I want web videos to play via plugins, I was able to do everyhting with kaffeine on the BSD box and I would like to be able to play .wmv .mpg etc. I have read alot of posts about plugins etc but could not find a decent howto, I would like to use yum and be done with it. Can anyone hook me up on this?

Thanks
