Question Copying music library to NTFS drive

I have a customer with an extensive collection of music on an EXT3FS drive. He is switching from linux to vista.

We want to transfer the collection from the ext3 partition to a fresh formatted ntfs drive but continue to have failures accessing certain folders or files from Vista. The problem appears to be happening with:

- superscripted numbers like 1 2 and 3 in the folder name or file name
- folder/files containing characters from languages other than english (ie: Cyrillic based languages, greek, etc)

Does anyone have a method of performing this copy to NTFS? We currently are using NTFS-3G and:

cp -R -v -u /source /dest

The copy appears to go fine, but once we mount the drive in Vista and try to access certain folders/files we begin to get errors such as: "Unable to read from source file or folder"

Both drives are in perfect condition - no failures.

Any help would be appreciated!
Scott

Vista is a prob lem child, isn't it?

How about making a partition (formatted fat16 or fat32) large enough to hold the music. Transfer the music to that partition, then from there to the ntfs partition. Then you can delete the fatXX partition.
