I'm copying all my files to a new HD from my old one and have been having trouble finding where firefox 3 stores the bookmarks. What do I have to copy to the new installation to retrieve the bookmarks? I'm using Kubuntu 9.10 on both.
You can copy the folder ~/.mozilla.
However I'd recommend you FEBE addon. It's a great tool that you can use to backup your Username-Passwords, bookmarks, History, Preferences, etc.
New firefox stores bookmarks, history etc in the file places.sqlite
You can copy it to your new ~/.mozilla/firefox/<whatever>.default/ directory, or select the export bookmarks from your old install to export bookmarks in html and import the html in your new install.
