Copying bootable CD's with mkisofs

Can I make an exact copy of a CD with mkisofs? Say I have a bootable CD in /mnt/cdrom and want to write it to /mnt/cdrom1 (the writer) is the command I use identical to the one I would use to make a iso of /home/nik?

well you already HAVE an iso filesystem on the cd, you don't even NEED to "mk" one... just dd it off the drive...

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/home/nik/cdrom.iso

you can even test it but mounting it over loopback:

mount -o loopback /home/nik/cdrom.iso /mnt/cdrom

so.. dd is something like copy, right? all i have to do is enter that command you said and it makes an image of the CD which I can then burn to the CD! I think I got that. Tnx.

From the man:

dd - convert and copy a file
It's an awesome program actually, really should read the man, very versatile.
