Copy Clipboard Between Windows XP and Ubuntu Machine
Hello!
I have a Windows XP Professional machine and a Ubuntu machine and I want to somehow link their clipboards together. I have searched the forums quite exhaustively and found a lot of things involving X Windows emulation in Windows, but I'd prefer the least obtrusive option available since my Windows Machine is primarily a gaming rig and it needs all of its resources. Any help, resources or ideas would be wonderful! Thank you in advance for the help! |
I think rdesktop can copy to and from a windows machine

Yes, RDesktop can copy between them, but that involves opening a remote desktop application on a machine every time you want to copy something. I'm curious if I can do something akin copying in Windows and having it dump the clipboard information onto the Linux machine so they share a clipboard.

Synergy has the ability to share a clipboard across platforms, but as a whole package, it may be more than you need.
A couple of years ago, I used a java-based clipboard across platforms, Remote Clip. iirc, it was kinda clunky, and didn't always work. You may have better results, tho' cheers, |
If you run Cygwin on the XP and then slogin into the linux machine with -Y switch, the clipboards are linked together.
